CNN has hired Bad Education director of education & human services.
She is a former Education Department official who oversaw the implementation of the new “Knowledge and Skills Based Examinations” exam.
The hiring comes after a contentious tenure as Education Department chief, when she pushed for more rigorous testing and the creation of a standardized test.
Her tenure as chief came to an end in October after Trump nominated her for secretary of education.
During her tenure, she worked to promote more rigorous assessment of teachers and principals, which has helped her hire thousands of educators.
She was also instrumental in the creation in 2017 of a new “Citizenship Test” that measures teachers’ ability to engage students with civics.
Kamala Harris, the 2020 Democratic nominee for president, is not being replaced.
She has been promoted to deputy secretary of labor.
