Apple is offering teachers a $20 million education discount on the iPad Air, iPhone 5, and Apple Watch Series 3 models, a move that comes amid a widespread shortage of teachers, education experts and some critics have said.
The education discount, which the company has said will help teachers who work in the U.S. and Canada, is the second discount offered to teachers in the past two weeks, according to the U-T San Francisco Business Journal.
In September, Apple announced a $5 billion education discount to help teachers and schools with new devices.
The discount was announced in conjunction with a $10 billion initiative called the “Education First,” which aims to expand teacher training and teacher education across the country by creating partnerships with universities, colleges, charter schools and other private organizations.
The $20,000 education discount will be available starting March 1, and the offer is valid for current teachers.
